What to do
Create a clear record of the home, keys, meters, and existing issues.
- 1Before moving in, take dated photos or video of every room, appliance, bathroom, window, wall, floor, and parking area.
- 2Record meter readings, key and access-card counts, and appliance condition on the move-in checklist.
- 3Report existing damage or missing items in writing to the landlord or property manager and keep a copy of the message.
